Before you start writing, you need to determine your market segment, target, and positioning. Consider that the smaller the segment you choose, the more likely you are to gather your audience and engage their interest.

You will learn the following:

  • Explain what makes a segment (Measurable, attainable, similar, sizeable)
  • Create the audience for your book before it’s written
  • Determine a timeframe that you can live with for engaging your audience
  • Practice writing a marketing plan
  • Review a current integrated marketing communications plan

This collaborative session will help you consider the options you have to publish your book, market your book, and satisfy your audience to a delightful stage that they will want to review it.

About The Presenter

Dr. Mary Beth McCabe has been using the pen name Dr. Mary Travelbest since 1993 when she self-published her first travel guidebook with an introduction by General Chuck Yeager. In the meantime, she started a marketing business, got married, and had four children, and now they are living independently, so she can return to her love of helping others travel. She sold more than 10,000 copies.

McCabe is a professor of marketing at Point Loma Nazarene University, founder of Sun Marketing Media and Advertising, and recently published a book series: “5 Steps to Solo Travel: A Woman’s Guide to Travel in Her Prime, Part A,” in paperback, eBook, and audiobook on Amazon. Part B will be released this fall.

She has a BA in Communications from the University of Dayton, an MBA from DePaul University, and a DBA from Alliant University. She has been teaching at the college level in San Diego since 1987, including National University, UCSD Extension, SDSU, USD, and as a visiting professor in China and Taiwan. She has traveled solo to nearly every continent and been to all 50 US states. She volunteers with several non-profit organizations and helps them grow their following.
